Body Based Voice Ped (BBVP) is a community for voice teachers and passionate singers to learn to improve their singing, practice, and teaching through simple experiential techniques that illustrate new ways of understanding traditional concepts like support, resonance, breath for singing and more.
The pedagogical perspective is holistic and integrative:
We say less while achieving more by creating experiences where a student will discover more possibilities with your guidance.
We generate options to discern good choices from less good choices instead of a fixed idea of what is right or wrong.
We learn how to set intentions and then sequence and streamline a lesson or practice session from warm up through to technical integration and artistic expression of repertoire.
We look at what makes the body whole (this is where fascia science comes in), and how that can lead to effortless growth using ideas that aligns with how the body learns.
-
This is a community for people who want to both improve their own singing or feel new vocal possibilities, and also understand the sciences and theories that were embedded within their learning experience.
This includes:
Emerging and experienced voice teachers who want new practical tools, an even more holistic perspective, and a supportive community of deep thinkers.Singers who want to understand how to take charge of their own growth through smart practice, and like to get a little nerdy about the voice!
Voice professionals like SLP/Ts, Vocologists, etc, who want to widen their thinking and deepen their skills, and also share their expertise in a like- minded community.
-
We look at traditional topics found in most vocal pedagogy books in nontraditional ways alongside contemporary ideas for a dynamic combination that breathes new life into familiar ideas.
Topics include:
Teaching vocal versatility
Connecting Performance & Practice
Support, grounding, and effortless singing
Motor imagery, and neuroplasticity
The mouth, resonance, and diction
Sequencing & streamlining warming up, technical exercises, and rep
Therapeutic exercises
Improving vocal function
Alignment & Stretching Updates
Experiential Anatomy
Negative Practice (lip syncing variations)

Every 90 minute session is unique, though each contains:
*quick catch up about previous week’s teaching and singing wins, new insights and connections, lingering questions, etc.
*experiential learning as a group (singing on mute), with live 1:1 open coaching (off mute) to troubleshoot and clarify any challenges or confusions
*unpacking the elements of the lessons (the sciences & theories, sequencing or pedagogical format, etc)
*discussion and questionsSome sessions feature special topics like working with neurodivergent clients, understanding the nervous system, working with tension, having guest teachers (specialists in Myofascial Release, biomechanics, biotensegrity, performance techniques, etc), and guests coming in for a genuine teaching demonstration to observe this work in a 1:1 setting.
We keep the conversation going in a private Facebook group where we can also get support for our particular teaching and singing needs, often resulting in an asynchronous group think. Most of our guests are members as well, so we can consult with the experts as needed on top of it all.

There are four pedagogical pillars that provide the foundation for the exercises and the way they’re taught:
Fascia - Fascia is far more than mere connective tissue, it is the scaffolding for all of our parts - the environment for our muscles, bones, veins, nerves, brains - everything! Learn how it functions, responds, and to help it move more freely.
Biotensegrity - Biotensegrity is a combination of three other words: Bio (biological, alive) and tens-egrity (tensional integrity). It is a framework for understanding the body and movement that draws from the patterns found in nature, comparing the body to other living things instead of manmade machines (biomechanics).
Nonlinear Pedagogy - Learning happens easily when you’re in the state of play! THIS is nonlinear pedagogy! Learn how to create an environment where piquing curiosity ignites the learning process, and results are unpredictable, varied, and guaranteed.
Complexity theory - Complexity theory suggests that the real magic isn’t in the parts and what they do, but in the relationship between them. Learn how to apply this simple pedagogy of relationships.
If this is all new to you, that is completely ok! That’s why there’s a Body Based Voice Ped!

Oranges are a common metaphor in the fascia community to illustrate wholeness. When we peel and separate the segments, we’re not creating isolated pieces but revealing parts of an integrated whole—each wedge distinct but fully connected to the others, contributing to the fruit’s structure and wholeness.
The twigs also represent how similar we are to the nature that surrounds us. They’re just twigs, but they feel joyous somehow.

How it Feels
The body, heart, mind, and soul of Body Based Voice Ped
Learn through the body, not just about it.
The heart of BBVP is having new and interesting ways to feel new and interesting things in your singing to find freedom and potential. Sensory information flows before the intellectual kind. It’s good to know the vocal anatomy, but you could read all the voice books out there and still not sing any better.
Feel the change first, and we’ll make sense of it all after.
From intellectual to instinctual.
Sometimes learning isn’t a straight line, in fact it rarely is. Usually it’s a winding road that gets you to a goal - this is the body of BBVP. It’s having an intention, which sets a direction for learning but who knows what might happen along the way?! Learn to teach using the body’s feedback to point the way forward. You’ll feel it for yourself and know exactly what I mean..
Unlock vocal freedom and creativity.
Let play, curiosity, and a few interesting ideas give your technique and artistry a boost! Through various sorts of games, ideas that intrigue the mind, attuning to our senses through hands-on techniques, exploring vocal colors, and more, you’ll gain a ton of simple tools to practice and teach, but more than that you’ll be learning the fundamentals to create your own.
A global community of deep thinkers.
Body Based Voice Ped’s soul is the people in the zoom room and the Facebook group ready to hold each others’ virtual hand through teaching challenges and confusions and interesting new insights and teaching wins. You never really realize how important community is until you find yourself in the best kind.
“BBVP is such a curiosity-driven space for us to explore and grow in, and my curiosity has been VORACIOUS because of it!”
-Susan
Connect sound & sensation,
movement & meaning,
attention & intention.
Learning becomes effortless.
Connects the dots and fill the gaps through
Movement, Touch, and Imagination
Sessions open your mind and senses weekly. In every session you’ll gain new insights through a guided vocal experience, and as we discuss and unpack its contents afterwards.
Featuring contemporary theories and sciences, we create simple strategies that make big differences.
This is not another method, it’s a new angle.
In BBVP we learn how the body organizes sound naturally, and how to guide that process in your own singing and teaching.
This is me, Jeremy. I’m your guide.
After over a dozen years teaching voice, pedagogy, and many aspects of performance, I left academic teaching behind to work with professionals in NYC, LA, and internationally, help those with complex vocal diagnoses, and to teach teachers a contemporary approach to vocal pedagogy that leads to effortless and fully embodied singing. That’s what you have in store in Body Based Voice Ped.
I’m a thirsty learner, always updating my knowledge base and mental model to offer the most aligned and up to date learning. Though there’s a lot of complexity in what we do, the strategies are very simple and easy to do without a lot of explanation - each strategy is an experience that immediately engages the senses and piques curiosity for effortless learning.
